The subsidiary of Nissan secretly spent nearly 18 million USD to buy apartments for the president

This transaction was conducted through a company branch in the Netherlands created in 2010 with an initial capital estimated at 6 billion yen equivalent to 53.4 million USD established for investment purposes.

A Nissan Motor company is accused of paying $ 17.8 million to buy luxury apartments in Rio de Janeiro and Beirut for the impending president to use. Ghosn was arrested on Monday on suspicion of financial misconduct, according to sources familiar with the incident posted by Nikkei.

According to sources, the source of the company’s founding is entirely from Nissan Japan. According to a statement to Nissan, the company was set up to carry out investments in new businesses, although so far, evidence to support the argument is quite weak.

The information comes just a day after Nissan accused Mr Ghosn of having many financial flaws. The statement was made after an internal investigation was conducted over several months. Ghosn has been accused of misrepresenting the reward level, misusing the company’s assets and budget. On Thursday this week, Mr Ghosn will officially lose his job as president of Nissan.

Nissan-related people participated in an internal investigation program that began in June 2018. Accordingly, they will be reduced to crime or exonerated if cooperating with prosecutors.

This Dutch company is used to buy luxury apartments in Rio de Janeiro and Beirut for Ghosn to use. In addition, Nissan is also expected to pay for maintenance and repair costs of the above apartments. The total amount of wrong spending is about 2 billion yen.

The deals are overseen by Greg Kelly, the director, and on Monday, Nissan admitted that Kelly is closely related to the incident.

Ghosn used to spend his childhood in Rio, then moved to Beirut where he finished high school. Nissan did not have any activities in Beirut and the Renault or Mitsubishi Motors alliance did.

Ghosn and Kelly are alleged to have misrepresented the president’s compensation during the period from April 2010 to March 2015, in which he received 5 billion yen in bonuses, when he actually received it. 10 billion yen.
